Jane Austen, a British author, is known for her romantic novels. The novels would place her characters in what would seem like normal life, of the time, and then would insert twists, that fascinated the reader. The novels often have a theme of women moving up the social hierarchy through marriage, which for women of the time, and even modern women, is fairy tale like; making their lives easier and more comfortable.

Her prose and writing style is so typical of the early 19th century period and remains a joy to read.

Since a young age, Austen was encouraged by her family to learn, be creative, and take part in discussions. After attending boarding school, she continued her education through her father and brothers. It was this along with her father's encouragement that Austen began her writing career.
