Mary Ann Evans goes under the pen name George Eliot. She was a prominent victorian writer, who wrote novels, articles, and poems. She was also a translator; She first learnt to read in the foreign languages of French and Italian, and later Latin and German.
Eliot's novels are all distinctively different from each other. Her Adam Bede was renowned for its realistic depictions of country life with detail. Her Mill on the Floss changes focus to childhood and psychology. And, Middlemarch presented all levels of society with many plot lines interlinked.
Famous works include: Mill on the Floss, Adam Bede, Middlemarch, and Silas Marner, among others.
