Aldine Press
(1494 - 1515)
The Aldine Press is one of the most significant publishing houses of all time, perhaps second only to Gutenburg. They invented the italic font and also popularised the octavo sized book, paving the way for the modern paperback. They mainly printed Greek and Latin classics, and we have sold many Aldine editions, including first editions of Statius (1502), Julius Caesar (1513), Cicero (1514), and a significant number of later editions under the Press.
