Bound in a contemporary binding with morocco labels.
The very well known & much desired Samuel Johnson edition of Shakespeare’s plays; the expanded edition (2nd) following the 8 volume edition in 1765.

Condition: Very Good (VG+)
Frontispiece in volume one present. Half titles present to volumes 2-10. Text blocks very clean with light toning, and sporadic and very minor to minor foxing. Title pages and half titles vary, ranging from some foxing to clean. Title to first volume contains a dated pen ownership signature, which can also be seen on the title pages of volumes seven and nine. Minor wear to spines with some very small fragments lacking. Minor damage to headcaps. All boards attached with wear to joints and hinges. Minor scuffing and some toning on boards. Endpapers toned with minor foxing. Bookplate attached to front pastedown in all volumes. Shelf wear. Minor damage to corners. Volumes one, three, four, six, seven, eight, and ten lacking number labels. Minor wear to tooled labels. Dulling to page edges. Volume three lacking half title and title page. No inscriptions outside of inscriptions on title pages mentioned above.
