-------------------
Silvae is a collection of short poems by the Roman poet P. Papinius Statius. The word "silvae" means "forests" in Latin, and the poems cover a wide range of subjects, from mythology and religion to personal relationships and current events. The collection includes thirty-two poems in a variety of genres, including elegies, epigrams, and hymns, among others. The poems are characterized by their vivid descriptions of nature and their exploration of themes such as love, friendship, and the relationship between humans and the natural world. The style of the Siluae is highly rhetorical and ornate, typical of Roman poetry of the period.
Achilleis Et Thebais is an epic poem by the Roman poet P. Papinius Statius. The work is divided into two parts: Achilleis, which tells the story of Achilles and his exploits during the Trojan War, and Thebais, which focuses on the conflict between Oedipus' sons Eteocles and Polynices over the throne of Thebes. The poem is written in a highly ornate and rhetorical style, typical of Roman epic poetry, and is considered an important example of the genre.
The works were likely composed throughout Statius' career and were published posthumously.
