-------------------
The Works of Marcus Tullius Cicero from 1724 is a comprehensive collection of writings by the famed Roman. Cicero was a statesman, orator, lawyer, and philosopher who lived during the late Roman Republic. He is considered one of Rome's greatest orators and is known for his speeches, letters, and philosophical writings. Cicero was an advocate for the preservation of the Roman Republic and opposed the rise of Julius Caesar, which ultimately led to his exile and later assassination. The collection includes his speeches, letters, and philosophical treatises, spanning over three decades of his prolific career. The works are organized thematically and cover topics such as law, politics, ethics, and religion, and are considered to be some of the most influential works in Western literature. This collection contains many of Cicero's most famous works, such as "On the Republic," "On the Laws," "On Moral Duties," and "Orations." Cicero's writings are notable for their eloquence, their use of classical rhetorical devices, and their clear and concise style. The edition was published in Amsterdam by Rod. & Ger. Wetsenios, and features Latin text with commentary by various scholars. It is widely considered as one of the most important editions of Cicero's works and is highly valued by scholars and enthusiasts of classical literature.
