Thucydides On the Peloponnesian War Book Eight is a historical account of the war between Athens and Sparta written by the ancient Greek historian Thucydides. This particular book, translated and edited by Ernestus Fridericus in 1866, focuses on the events of the eighth year of the war, including the Athenian invasion of Sicily and the subsequent defeat of the Athenian forces. The book provides a detailed and objective analysis of the political and military strategies of both sides, and offers valuable insights into the causes and consequences of the war.

Very minor to minor rubbing on spines. Gilt titles vivid. All boards securely attached with minor wear to joints and hinges. Very minor scuffing and minor marks on boards (refer to photos). Minor shelf wear. Very minor dulling to page edges. Pastedown fine. Pencil inscriptions on preliminary pages in all volumes. Title pages lightly toned with very minor / minor foxing. Text blocks very clean with some toning, and sporadic and minor foxing. Foldout sheet facing title page of volume three section two and foldout map facing volume four section two present.
