The Orations of Demosthenes from the Recension of William Dindorf is a three-volume set that includes the speeches of the Greek statesman Demosthenes. William Dindorf, a 19th-century scholar, provides his recension of the works which includes his critical notes and annotations. Demosthenes was known for his powerful oratory skills and was a key figure in the politics of Athens during the 4th century BCE. The speeches cover a wide range of political and legal issues, including the rivalry between Athens and Macedonia, the nature of democracy, and the defense of Athens against Philip II of Macedon. They are considered some of the greatest examples of classical Greek rhetoric and have been studied and admired for centuries.
