Selections From the Greek Poets is an anthology of ancient Greek poetry, compiled by Jos. Pote and first published in 1766. This second edition, also published in 1766, includes selected works from prominent Greek poets such as Homer, Hesiod, and Pindar, as well as lesser-known poets. The selections cover a wide range of themes and styles, including epic, lyric, and pastoral poetry. Pote's edition features a brief introduction to each poet and their work, as well as notes and annotations that provide historical and literary context for the poems. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the literature and culture of ancient Greece, and its influence on Western literature and thought.
