Homer's Iliad in two volumes finely bound in full vellum into one book. Printed in 1760. A highly scarce printing of Homer's famous classic for which we could trace no sales records with only one copy held institutionally in the UK and ten worldwide with just 3 of those being in public libraries. Printed the same year as Rivington's renowned edition.

Condition: Very Good (VG)

Binding in very nice condition with minor wear to boards and some shelf wear. Corners sharp and without deformity. Binding appears to be near contemporary, almost certainly 18th century. Page edges very good. Missing one blank at the rear of the book else collated as complete. Leaves prior to pp.1 heavily toned, [1-96] near fine, [97-120] toned, [121-312] near fine, [313-336] toned, vol 2 title page leaf near fine, leaf A heavily toned, [1-46] near fine, [47-94] heavily toned, [95-118] near fine, [119-166] toned, [167-332] near fine, [323-326] heavily toned, [327-338] near fine. Text block generally in excellent condition with all text legible and complete, intermittently heavily toned but all legible. A beautiful copy of Homer's Iliad in two volumes bound into one.
