First edition (1st edition) of Correspondences of Goethe & Zelter between 1796-1818 in a fine binding.Published in 2 volumes by Verlag non Duncker und Humblot in 1833.

In their correspondences, Goethe and Zelter discussed music and its history. Highlighting the importance of it on culture. Goethe (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) being the author of Faust, and Zelter (Carl Friedrich Zelter) being the famous composer.



Size: 19.5 x 12 x 3 cm each.



Condition: Very Good (VG-)


Spines in near fine condition with very minor marks and very minor rubbing. Gilt is bright and shows well. Very small bump to the headcap of volume one. Boards near fine condition with very minor marks. Hinges fine. Joints with very minor wear. Some dulling to the top page edge. Minor shelf wear. Very minor pencil marks in the preliminary pages. Minor foxing to the title pages and verso, more significant in volume one. The more prominent foxing in volume one continuing till leaf numbered 'xi', after this leaf, the foxing becomes lesser. Minor foxing to text blocks.
