No copies of the first edition of the Pickwick Papers will have all of the first issue points as they were bound up from the original parts. The Veller and Weller frontispiece states were available simultaneously, with the 'Weller' state being the more common variant.

Size: 21.2 x 14.5 x 4.5 cm.


Condition: Very Good (VG+)


Text block extremely clean with very light toning and very sporadic very minor foxing. Contains 41 out of 43 plates including frontispiece. Very minor rubbing on spine. Tooled label present. Both boards securely attached with very minor wear to joints and hinges. Very minor scuffing on boards, near fine. Minor shelf wear. Very minor damage to headcap. Very minor scratches and very minor spots of gilt loss on page edges. Very small bookplate attached to front pastedown. Light toning and minor foxing on endpapers. Light toning and minor creases to the top corner of the frontispiece. Light toning and very minor foxing on title page. Plates prominently foxed as typical. Pencil inscription relating to the details of the book on endpaper.
